Default 4l60e removal

Got all the bolts out I think. How many are there exactly? I can't get the damn thing to slide back at all. I'm afraid to pry on it at all because I don't want to crack anything. What does everybody pry on to get it out and how much pressure does it take? I was under the impression that there were 8 bolts, but I only have 7. There suppose to be one at the 12 o,clock position, but there isn't on mine which leads me to believe that it's been out before at sometime. It just feels like it's stuck. I been out there shaking the **** out of it trying to get it to break loose.
Any advice?

Wiggle it back and forth. Probably caught on the dowel. They probably didn't put that bolt back in if they serviced it.

I'm wore out from trying to wiggle it back and forth. I was gently prying on it, but it just doesn't want to move. I sprayed down the dowels with some penetrating oil. I will see if that helps at all.

Jack it up on the pan, make sure you have a board or something to protect the pan. Just start slowly, jack it up a bit, then wiggle, jack it up more and wiggle. I pryed against the block. Just use common sense if you feel you are going to crack something. It's just stuck on the dowels. Make sure you have the dip stick and coolant lines removed to.

No luck, I borrowed a map gas torch and I'm going to try heating up the case around the dowels a little and see if that helps at all. If not it's going to the shop. I'm tired of laying under this damn car.

LOL, I feel your pain, I just went through the same thing yesterday. My back, shoulders, and triceps are killing me. Take your hand and run it behind the intake....follow the firewall, make sure that last bolt is not still in there. From there use the two jacks as stated. Be paitent young warrior.

You can reuse them. Glad you got it out, the install is a lot easier with someone helping. You can do it solo, it just takes alot more work.

Thoroughly clean the dowels and the dowel holes. Due to the different metals (Aluminum case with steel dowels) and exposure to moisture, you probably had some corrosion that kinda welded the parts together. The dowel should be snug, but don't need to be super tight.

I planned on cleaning the dowels. I'm going to be doing the install myself. I took it out by myself, I can put it in myself righ... does it matter if the dowels came out with the trans? I thought they were suppose to stay in the block?

when my dowels came out with the tranny,I pushed/punched them out the tranny, cleaned them up with a wire wheel, and put them back in the block.
