Default convertor size?

As says i'm after a convertor size for my ls1 4l60e, spoke to the place tuning my ls1 383 stroker motor.

This is the cam to stall to diff setup they recommended for it (well cam i already had).

Cam: 235/243 .621/.624 113 lsa comp cam (already have).

Stall: 3,200 non lockup (will be 98% street driven 2-3 track hit outs if that a year).

Diff: 3.73 gears.

Does this stall sound good for the engine/cam and diff?
as said will be 98% street driven, not a daily but will mainly be driven on the streets on weekends with the odd freeway cruising and with the odd track hit out every now and then, also may see a 100-250hp nos set up so will probably get a stall to take this hit.

Are there any other stall sizes that people would think will work well with this setup and brands that are good?
Also what brands are good for light weight flex plates? or will factory be ok?(factory flexplate balance was checked when bottom end balanced)

they recommended a 'non-lockup' stall ???
That'll raise your cruising/freeway rpm and lower your gas mileage.
Typically,3500-4000 lockup stalls are recommended by most enthusiasts.

Non-lockup....then street driven 98%, highway cruise?...huh? Look into Yank. Their SS3600 seems to be popular for the LS cars both n/a and on spray. Talk to Dave. He'll set you up on the right stall.

Ok thanks for that, yeh will look into that, most off the roads it will be on are 70-80km/h, not sure what that is in miles an hour and the odd freeway at 100km/h. I flick the cruise control on abit, will talk to dave, is dave from yank?

I think they recomended a non lock up cause it will see a lot more round the streetsduty like 60/70 and 80km/h aread than 100km/h freeway driving. Nearly all the roads around me are max 80km/h.

I would strongly suggest a lock up converter. That is the beauty of the late model transmissions. You can have a high stall converter that also gets great gas milage on the highway. With todays technology in CNC billet fronts and clutches, I see no durability problems with a properly tuned car. For your car I would think 3500+, depending on how aggressive you want to get. If you want to shoot me an Ask Chris, link in sig, I would be glad to help you spec a converter.

That's the best thing you can do is talk directly to the one building the converter, there is more to it than just the stall speed. Good luck.
