Default 4000 stall to much?

I have a b-body with a 383 stroker, 3.73 gears, and a 232/240 cam, and I recently got a good deal on a Yank SS 4000 stall, so is this stall to high for a week-end/street driver?

I think you'll see a lot of replies that probably will say 'No, not too much'.

I think that will work very well for you given the setup it's going in.

Keep in mind I'm not hitting the track at all either... I've never had a stall before so I think jumping straight into a 4000 is kind of high, im really looking to trade for a SS 3600

And the PCM has to get programmed everytime I switch stall speeds because the shift points will be different right?

I got a ProTorque recently. 8" 4500-5000ish. Plan on driving plenty of street miles in a 383 Nova with a TH350 and a 254/260 Solid Roller. Can't wait!

Cant go wrong with a 3600 imo. Dropped .6 in the 1/4 and gained 2mph with it. Very efficient. I could do 4k no prob but I think 3600 is a beautiful compromise street/strip TC.

I have a 3400 and I'm very happy with it. Not to high to were it gets hot, but I also shaved 6 tenths and gained 2mph with my stall. I think it has more left with stickier tires also!

4000 is too much IMO. You've got an LT1 based 383 with a mild cam, and you're heavy. Unless you have an LT4 based top end or an aftermarket head and intake combo, you'll want something tighter. 3600?

Slap it in and enjoy it. Make sure to add an oil cooler to keep temps down.

Yank SS4000 FTW, between that and the TCI3500 i had, the yank feels better on the street, and is faster on the street/track... at least it was in my car. MS4 Cam.

Yes, any stall requires a tune to optimize shift points, lock-up, shift extension, etc
