I have a 99 Trans Am that I just swapped a 4l80e into. The car previously had a 4l60e. Anyway, I have some driveability problems. It feels like the car shifts from 1st to 2nd and then like a brake in the trans is holding it back and then it shifts to 3rd. It's hard to explain. It is not the trans slipping because if i go WOT it shifts out firm. I think its in the tune.

I had a tuner do my segment swap. He didn't have any 99 vehicle files with a 4l80e so he swapped it all to an 02. Can someone with a nicely operating 4l80e swapped trans am share their tune? I have another tuner with HP Tuners coming over and this could help us see where mine is messed up. Thanks.

Sounds like an internal transmission issue, not a tune issue.

 

cam72ero I tried opening your file but it wont let me. I'm also looking for a tune w a segment swap for the 4l80e so when i do my swap it will drop in and run, for the most part. Any others want to share 99+ file, perfer stock w a swap.

Its an hptuners file. Is that what you are opening it up with?

 

I have a transmission pan leak. I assumed my fluid level was still good since I just checked it when I did the swap last week. It was 2.5 quarts low. I added fluid and the problem went away. However, the trans was acting up a bit after I drove it a while. I think that I have my cooler mounted in a place where no air is going over it. I have no gauge to check the trans temp, but when I check the fluid, it is very hot. The problem goes away when the car cools down.

I just opened it from this location and it works. What version are you using, its on 2.23 beta version.
