You can swap it out but it's a bit of work to do. I say go get ya an FLT transmission and you won't have to worry about it again.

My 3-4 bands went out twice. First time I did a couple upgrades and it still went out again. I said screw it because I didn't want to go through that **** again and have it break. I ordered the FLT Stg 6 transmission and it's been flawless. Shifts smooth and hard and never had any problems with it. I definitely recommend spending the money and getting one.

I had a similar problem to this ....
Mine acted up out of no where and random gears started slipping or not working at all .... I'd have to slow to a stop and ease into it to baby it home. I changed the transmission filter and fluid and also cut the overflow tube which might have possibly been pinched and then it was fine except for it will not lock up in OD anymore .... I get no codes at all . I am thinking it may be a problem with the stall but am not to sure and probably going to take it out and have it checked .... Any ideas of what that could be ^

Mine did the same before it went out. It'll need a rebuild.

Did yours actually run properly though after the issue though ? Because after I changed the fluid and filter it ran fine and has been perfect since then besides no lock up ....
Seems like with the only problem being lock up that it can't be the whole trans being bad .... ?

Does it have trouble shifting at WOT? Especially 2-3. Mine seemed like it was slipping at the higher RPM's and just wouldn't shift until you let off a bit and then it would shift. Even after it went out and I didn't have 3 or 4, the converter wasn't locking up and slipping in 1 and 2.

No it doesn't have any issues shifting WOT. 1-2 and 2-3 seem fine at cruise and wide open, doesn't feel like it's slipping any more than it should be (3400 stall) . It just will not lock up in OD. I have HPTuners and have tried manually locking with no luck. I am probably going to take the converter out to have that looked at. I am hoping it is just the converter lock up clutch but IDK, I've never had this happen and no one else seems to have heard of this type of issue either lol.
