chatter or shaking? th400 rmvb
Car runs and shifts fine for 5 minutes or so, then as the trans fluid starts to get hot I get a "chatter" type feeling like the clutches are struggling to catch.
It'll happen for a bit leaving in 1st gear and then when I shift into 2nd.
It feels like the clutches are grabbing and letting go and grabbing...chattering in a way. Then as the car starts moving, it'll stop. It's only from a stop, and then it will drive smooth, then at the 1-2 shift it'll act up again, and then smooth out again. This is after the trans gets warm
Fluid is relatively clean but smells burnt. Fluid levels are good, I have 2 trans coolers on it.
I'm thinking fluid is not holding up to the abuse or the pump or some seal inside is letting go...maybe a servo?
Thanks in advance
It's a th400 reverse manual valvebody 5000 stall....driven it 2000 miles on the street so far. Texas heat too.

called FTI and they said to just check shifter linkage first and if that's good, check fluid levels and pan, and other than that, send it back in to fix if everything else looks good.
Greg @ FTI really stands behind his work.
