Dished 4,8/5.3L truck flexplate and a GM spacer after it. elongate the flexplate holes to align with the tq holes. Or you can just use a Hughes bushing spacer summit sells. Be cheapest route.

You would be better off getting a later LS trans. The '96 LT1 style can be adapted with certain flexplate and an adapter kit. Then the wiring may not be correct. A little searching will better results.

The 4L60e we want to use does not have PWM on the housing and it is a 4-bolt tailshaft (12 pin plug-in). It is a brand new transmission.
Can it be converted to use with the Gen III harness?
Is it worth the cost and effort?

You would need a pwm pump, and also the spacer plate would have to change along with that. Also, some of the 1996 valve bodies used the old 3-2 downshift valving. This technically was supposed to stop in 1995 but I have seen 1996 units with the old setup, and All of those times the unit also lacked pwm function.. If I had to take a guess you either have a late 1995 unit or a very early 1996 unit. If it happens to be a late 1995 unit, the harness would also be different. As previously stated in this thread I think your best option is to try to get yourself into an LS based 4L60e. There are a serious of variations between 93-97. Switching one to another can be pricey. Not to mention the adapters you're going to need. Also keep in mind your converter might have to be custom because the LS based pilots are different from LT based pilots to accomodate for a different style input shaft (298mm vs 300mm) among other differences.
