Default 4L60E Questions

Just joined the site. I'm basically a Manual Trans guy, but have Automatics in cars that my wife drives. I've had Powerglides and TH350's and I am now looking at a '94 Cadillac with a 4L60E.

I've had about a half dozen TH350's, some with over 200,000 miles and never had an ounce of problems with them.

The 4L60E doesn't seem to be as good as a trans as the TH350, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Any info on them would be appreciated, but my basic question is:

What would be the average amount of miles a 4L60E would go before a rebuild? I know it could be a wide range, but looking for a general average one could expect.

Thanks

Bill

I owned an original 4l60e that was over 20 years old and over 275k without ever being touched internally. It was behind a 4.3 though. The Caddy I presume has the 5.0 or 5.7 and weighs a pretty good bit being a full size sedan. I don't have any ill will against them, though some will tell you otherwise. I've had excellent luck beating the **** out of them in f-bodies also.

Glad to hear that you have had good luck with them. The Cadillac I'm looking at has an LT1 350 Engine. Supposed to be the same engine as the Corvette. It has 110,000 miles on it. If I could get 90,000 more out of the trans, I would be satisfied with it.
