Default TH400 No 2nd after shift kit install

Hey guys, I installed a stage 3 shift kit and now when I bump the shifter to 2nd it doesn't shift. When I bump it to drive, it will shift to 2nd and then to 3rd at about 4500 rpm. The instruction said to only install 2 check *****, and that has me a little worried. Any advice will be appreciated.

I went out to my shop and re-read my instructions. The only thing that I didn't do was change out the spring that controls line pressure. Would that do it? I didn't do it cause I couldn't get the snap ring out with my snap ring pliers. It said in the troubleshooting section that It could be caused by a bur on the 1-2 valve or a misadjusted shifter. I would think that if their were a problem with the valve that it wouldnt shift at all and if it werent adjusted right I would have problems with drive or reverse. Any words of wisdom? First I am going to try adjusting the shifter before I drop the pan and waist $50 worth of fluid.
