tranny problems HELP!!

tranny problems HELP!! Ok, so the problem is it won't shift like normal... It shifts fine out of first, but after that it seems like it's slipping and won't shift. It feels like when your clutch is way worn and isn't grabbing. The fluid looked fine and I didn't smell anything but also didn't stick it to my nose. While I drive it will just keeping going instead of shifting to the next gear. I will have to let off to make it shift down but as soon as I touch the pedal to keep it at a speed the rpms climb again. Is this the torque converter it something worse. Its a 02 4L60E with 114k on the clock. I was told by a guy that he believes the girl before me had a "built" tranny put in it. But I doubt he knew what he was talking about.

Are you saying it just stays in first and does not upshift ? Is the speedo working and have you scanned for codes?

No it will shift from first to second fine but that's when it starts going funky, and the Speedo works yes, and codes cause i had a O2 sensor go out but didn't check for any new ones didn't have time. I did drop it off at a shop to get some stuff under warranty taken care of. I told them about it but he didn't seem to know much. Thats why i posted it up, someone on here always tends to know more then most shops i have gone to haha.

A common problem with a 4L60E is premature wear of the 3/4 clutch, which means you will notice the trans slipping after it shifts into 3rd.
You could have a trans shop confirm that your line pressure is OK, but most likely this means you need a rebuild.

@mrvedit: you where right, the guy said my third gear was torn to hell, and also my grand pan was to small and grounding out a wire on my trans solenoid. Idk but hey the warranty covered it so got me a fully rebuilt trans. Thanks for the help

During one of my recent trans rebuilds/swaps I noticed I had pinched a wire under the pan too, but it had not yet grounded out.
