4l60e no 3rd-4th gear, just 1st and 2nd I have a 99 jeep cherokee with a 5.3 and 4l60e hooked to an atlas. It is running advance adapters 4l60e adapter with a vss. Lately it will not shift into 3rd or 4th. I am using a winters sidewinder shifter, and i can manually shift it into 1st-2nd, but when i go to 3rd it goes back to first. Or if i put it in 3rd or 4th it stays in first. Every now and then it will go through the gears. Doesn't feel like it is slipping. Any idea's because i am lost.

no its going to first. I think i found the problem. The vss gear has slid back out of sight from the sensor. Will no vss signal cause my problem?

Typically a VSS problem will put the transmission into "limp mode" which maxes out the line pressure and parks the trans in 3rd gear, but since you're not running a GM computer it might behave differently.
Do you have a speedometer signal? Sometimes a VSS issue will cause your speedometer not to work.
