Early 4L60E onto LSX

Early 4L60E onto LSX I bought a cheap ($100) 1995 4L60E from a Chevy dayvan for the prop yoke and tailshaft, it has the early 4 bolt tailhousing.
If I want to use it behind my 2005 L33 Vortec, do I need the special flexplate to make the torque convertor sit right? Comparing it to the 2005 4L60E that came with the L33, it looks like "yes I do", looks like the torque convertor would be a bit far out of the gearbox on the old one.
Its either that or change the tailshaft in the 2005 box as it is a 4x4 at the moment.
Can anyone advise?
