4l80e converter are they all the same?

Are all 4l80e converters the same for all years? or did the converters also change when they made changes to the tranny in 97? If so I assume you have to specify the year of your tranny when ordering a converter.

They are the same and different. GM did a redesign and made them a little lighter and a different clutch setup. But they are interchangeable, so no worries when you order a converter.
