Default Has anyone seen a 4L80e do this?

I've had my 4L80 in my GTO for 3 years now and it's been relatively trouble free. I replaced all of the sensors and solenoids in the trans last year.

Fast forward to Monday night... I was messing around and the trans was perfect even at WOT. I had about an hour drive home in the rain so I was just crusing along. When I got off the expressway, the speedometer starting acting erratic and the converter was locking up when it shouldn't be.

I eased her home and checked it over today. All conncections look good, fluid level is good. Now when I try to take off in drive, it seems to slip a bit then the speedometer goes nuts and the converter locks up which stalls the car since its barely moving.

I'm running the TCI standalone controller. I'm thinking maybe the VSS is bad even though its only a year old.

Ideas?

It does sound like a potential VSS or wiring issue. I would put a scanner on it and watch the VSS output.

Sounds like a plan. I should be able to scan via the TCI software. If all else fails I'll put the old rear VSS in and see what happens. Thanks for the reply
