4L80e Running Hot??
4L80e Running Hot?? Just got my 408 and 4l80e up and running and my 4l80e has been running pretty hot. Just driving around town its getting around 200 and not dropping. It's a stage 4 from Jake's with a decent sized cooler mounted on the radiator. Not 100% sure what cooler it is but I got it as a kit from Jake's with braided lines. Dimensions seem to be 11" x 8ish". I'm reading the temp off of my aeroforce gauges so it is reading the temp from the pcm.
Also, it's hot to the point that my ratchet shifter is hot to the touch as well as the center console. Do I need to add a second cooler or possibly switch to a larger cooler. I added some pics of how i mounted it with the a/c removed and the SSRA in place.

Anyone have any idea. Could it be that it is just mounted too far away from where the air is channeled up from the front air dam. I looked on summit and I think the cooler is the B&M 70266.
The cooler is the same as the B&M cooler.
Be sure you're commanding lockup and not using PWM in the tune.
Does the car have electric fans? Try commanding the fan on nearest the cooler and see if it helps keep temps down. It needs airflow for sure.
We typically see 140-160 temps with the converter locked at highway speeds.

Thanks for the replies guys. I relocated the cooler and spaced it off of the radiator a good 3 inches, which mounted it flush with the opening for the front air dam. This should give it much more airflow. I also completely took off the SSRA. I drove it around for a good 40min to an hour and it got to 181. It seems the converter locks up when it shifts into fourth and will lock and unlock itself at crusing speeds. I asked my tuner about it and he said it's part of the truck programming that it will unlock the converter to save fuel in coast mode. however it would do this while cruising and not letting off the gas. I used my aeroforce gauges to monitor the slip and it was 0 when locked up, which was only for short times and a couple hundred rpm when unlocked in 4th. I noticed the temps would drop when crusing at 50mph when locked, would stay steady when cruising at 50 unlocked, and would climb at any other time.
Is there a way to modify the tune so the converter will stay locked? It would unlock while crusing without an increase in throttle or rpm.
