Seems like at 40mph the car won't hold enough to stay reasonable in fourth gear, or ride high in 3rd
I can get into 4th gear now @ under 30mph and can hold it throughout to highway speeds...so if that's really the only issue then I'll be ok.

Thanks for the replies.

I got the Fti 3600 with 1.78 str awesome converter for the street. The lower the str the better the streetabililty. If you drag race a lot go with a high str. I like the Fti converter deadly from a roll street racing.
This is what I was thinking, most people say FTIs are the easiest to drive especially with a low STR. I do appreciate a stall that can help from rolling starts in the midrange of the rpms. I rarely go to the track to need neck snapping acceleration from a dead stop.

i have a custom built from edge racing 4k and a 2.5 str but i wish i went for a 1.8 str because the car is supercharged and really doesnt need much help getting out of the box, but my top end got hurt a little by the high str. although very fun none the less

You have to sacrifice some stock drivability when you mod its just the way it is. IMO if you go any lower than a 3600 stall you will wish you went bigger. I was in your shoes a couple years ago before the stall. I was worried about going to big. I ended up with a ss3600 and I would of punched myself in the face if I went smaller. Its cake to drive. So if your going to get a stall I say get a yank ss3600.

I just did mine last week, went to rpm and they hooked me up with a lvl 4 4l60 and had vig spec me a 3600 stall for my needs. Mostly a daily, with some track passes once in awhile on stock 3.23s. Im not sure what my str was, have to find out tomorrow.

I love mine, drivability is still awesome. If you are light on the peddle I can keep it below 2k and then itll lock up and act like stock. If you are heavy on the gas though itll jump right up to 3k pretty quick and then lock up after you get going. So far Id say I only lost 1-2 mpg at most. Worth how much more fun the car is though. Its a burnout machine with the crappy tires I got on it.

Totally agree with this too, I was afraid of these comments 2 weeks ago, thinking I wouldnt like a big stall. Honestly I could have gone with a 4000 I think and still been happy now that Ive driven mine some. Im satisfied with my 3600 though.

I see people generally mentioned 3600 or 4000, is there an in between? Secondly, I am interested in the rare weekend autocross event, how does that impact choices of stalls?

Yea you can go with a 3800

Autocross may be better with a smaller stall, but I also know a lot of guys that leave their auto in a selected lower gear for the whole course depending on track length...

This is a good description. I have the same converter. You hardly notice any looseness in 1st or 2nd gear, but you sense it at lower speeds in 3rd & 4th. The car feels unresponsive as the rpm increase doesn't translate to forward motion - like a slipping clutch.
