Default A4 and 4.10 gears users inside please

I have a 200-4r w/transbrake in my car with 4.10's out back and a SS3800E verter and right now 26" ET Streets but soon to be 28" streets or drags. Last year I ran 112mph on street tires in the quarter and since then I have added the NXL kit and I am in the process of getting a H/C package.

My question is will I be able to cross the traps without hitting the rev limiter? I am going to raise the limiter to 6800 with the stock bottom end. Should I go a little higher on the rev limiter?

I really dont want to have to shift into OD, but if I do am I gonna hurt stuff badly?

I am guessing without the h/c I will be trapping around 120ish and with the heads and cam around 135ish (It is in a 93 RX7 so I only weigh around 2900lbs).

I will be at the track in 2-3 weeks so let hear some input.

What do you think? I dont have to many gear options the lowest I can go is 3.9.

Mike

Output from the calculator on my site Speed vs RPM .
Code:
Transmission Ratios:
1st: 2.74 2nd: 1.57 3rd: 1 4th: 0.67

Tire Diameter 1: 28 inches
Rear Gear Ratio 1: 4.1:1

RPM	1st	2nd	3rd	4th	5th	6th
1000	7	12	19	29	0	0
1500	10	18	29	43	0	0
2000	14	24	38	57	0	0
2500	17	30	48	71	0	0
3000	21	36	57	86	0	0
3500	24	43	67	100	0	0
4000	28	49	76	114	0	0
4500	31	55	86	128	0	0
5000	35	61	95	143	0	0
5500	38	67	105	157	0	0
6000	42	73	115	171	0	0
6500	45	79	124	185	0	0
7000	49	85	134	200	0	0
7500	52	91	143	214	0	0
8000	56	97	153	228	0	0
I think you need a numerically smaller gear or a bigger tire.

Why do I have to log in to use your programs?

I'm running 28x10.5x15 et drags, 2.48 first gear T400, Yank 4500, shift points at 7000, with 750rwhp what gear do I need? I am running a 4.11 but it's too much.

PSJ, doesnt this have to do solely with what kind of mph you want to hit through the traps? i dont see where rwhp comes into play.

Same reason as why you have to log in to use a message board. I want to control who has access to my site.

Regarding the gear you need what mph does the car trap at now? Here is the output for you set up, this assumes a 6% torque converter slip.

Use this Calculator for comparing two different gear ratio's.
Code:
Transmission Ratios:
   1st: 2.48 2nd: 1.48 3rd: 1

Tire Diameter 1: 28 inches
Rear Gear Ratio 1: 4.11:1
MPH
RPM	1st	2nd	3rd	4th	5th	6th
1000	8	13	19	0	0	0
1500	12	19	29	0	0	0
2000	15	26	38	0	0	0
2500	19	32	48	0	0	0
3000	23	39	57	0	0	0
3500	27	45	67	0	0	0
4000	31	51	76	0	0	0
4500	35	58	86	0	0	0
5000	38	64	95	0	0	0
5500	42	71	105	0	0	0
6000	46	77	114	0	0	0
6500	50	84	124	0	0	0
7000	54	90	133	0	0	0
7500	58	97	143	0	0	0
8000	61	103	152	0	0	0

Tire Diameter 2: 28 inches
Rear Gear Ratio 2: 3.73:1
MPH
RPM	1st	2nd	3rd	4th	5th	6th
1000 8	14	21	0	0	0
1500 13	21	31	0	0	0
2000 17	28	42	0	0	0
2500 21	35	52	0	0	0
3000 25	43	63	0	0	0
3500 30	50	73	0	0	0
4000 34	57	84	0	0	0
4500 38	64	94	0	0	0
5000 42	71	105	0	0	0
5500 47	78	115	0	0	0
6000 51	85	126	0	0	0
6500 55	92	136	0	0	0
7000 59	99	147	0	0	0
7500 63	106	157	0	0	0
8000 68	113	168	0	0	0
I would guess a 3.73 would be better for your car. I would assume with all that power you are trapping at least 135 - 140 mph.

You can try the quarter mile simulator eDragstrip but the traction algorithm needs some work. It works really well for cars under 350 Wheel HP.

tire growth is an issue too.

I agree.

My calcs do NOT account for tire growth. I haven't been able to figure out a good growth algorithm. I assume growth is a function of rpm but I have no way to measure it in the real world. Therefore I keep it simple and assume no tire growth.
