HELP - Do new shift selnoids rattle?? I ordered two AC Delco shift selnoids A & B for 1-2 and 2-3 shift on a 4L60e.
I was very surprised that when I took them out of the box I could hear some rattling if I shook them.
I compared to my original ones (most likely from 1996) and the original do not really rattle internally. It could be that they have been soaked in trans fluid to dampen whatever is moving inside.
So the question, is rattling normal for brand new out of box AC Delco shift selnoids? Very noticeable clicking can be heard if you shake it.
I am hoping they were not damaged in shipping. They came separately, one in its own bubble wrap small envelope, the other was boxed with other selnoids and planetarys. They both rattle the about the same.

I now have 1000 miles on my rebuild. No shift issues so I am thinking that the rattle was normal and since they did not see any fluid prior to install.
I think once installed the fluid dampens this alittle which may be why the old selenoids did not have the noticeable rattle when
I usedthem to compare to the new ones.
