Powdercoating Transmissions
Look dude I don't work for Jake, so I have nothing to gain or lose from this arguing back and forth, but it's basically a package deal. That's like if a customer says "Oh don't bother sanding or polishing the edges of the case to remove stuck grime or oxidation, just skip that and take the cost of labor you saved and deduct it from my total." Or if they say "Oh, rollerizing the internals doesn't matter to me, just keep the plastic thrust washers. Just deduct the cost of the torrington bearings from my total" or "No, I don't want new solenoids or a wiring harness, I know they cost about $60 bucks total, but just reuse the ones that came with the core and save me $60 bucks on the build". It doesn't work that way.
this has nothing to do with jake or the trannys he builds, i will be buying his trans no matter what, not bc of some stupid PC or what you have to say
you see things your way and i see things my way, get over it
i could care a less if you do, your the one that commented on my post first, if you didnt like what i had to say or disagree who cares bc i sure dont, just move on, if you free like being forced to pay for something you dont want then yay for you, i really dont care

You're freaking out over $20 on a bare minimum 2.5k-ish build. No one's "forcing" you to do anything. I'm not trying to change your views, just simply provide some clarity. You asked, I answered. When I first responded I was just simply pointing out a benefit to powder coating. Again, you asked questions and I answered, go back and re-read the whole thread if you don't believe me. You started to get impatient and have a mini freak out after I answered your question about what the point of the thread was, so maybe you should get over it.
like i said, idc ifs its 20, i dont feel its right paying for something i dont want, you seem like you see things diff bc you have money coming out of your *** which is fine, good for you, my car is built from front to back, and no not just head and cam ls1 so i know what it cost to do things.
you didnt point out anything that was worth me reading bc it had nothing to do with what i posted before you ever posted, from the start i said the same thing im saying now
and like i said before, you have your way and i have mine, simple as that, you can post 10pgs of **** and idc bc it has nothing to do with "me" not wanting to pay for something i dont want
sorry for all this bullshit jake, your more then wellcome to delete it all if you wish
That's so funny because I totally did!
Lol what? I don't have money coming out of my ***, everything in my sig has been done/is being done or will be done by me. The engine, the trans, the rear, the diff, suspension, everything. I am VERY aware of the costs. I'm barely 20 years old, I'm not rich.
What are you talking about? You've been using horrible logic for nearly the entire thread and I've been trying to help you by clarifying the whole process behind PC'ing and letting you know he's always offered it as an option, and why he's doing it. You are saying the same thing you've been saying from the beginning, so you've successfully proved you and a child are on equal terms about accepting different possibilities or reasoning for things. I haven't been trying to pick a fight with you at any point during this whole thing, but you've made the whole tone of the conversation more and more hostile. I'm not trying to change your view points, I really couldn't care less personally, but after you whined about half a dozen times about having to pay an extra few dollars incorporated into a new price for something that is becoming a standard procedure which will enhance the quality of the product while increasing efficiency for the builder to get your product out to you faster, I felt that I should try and help you understand WHY it was likely being done. You refused to accept any reasoning except that you didn't want to pay a few extra dollars for something you don't want, and when faced with a logical, reasonable analogy for you problem, began throwing a tantrum.
Ok

Sup man, been awhile. We can only go so far into the field by staying on the original topic big guy
I apologize for it too, I really was hoping it wouldn't be dragged out that much
Here, I'll try posting something as a sign of good will. Jake can probably get you a very nice discount on a converter over the prices what you see people charging online. They're doing converters in house pretty soon, and that should reduce the costs a bit. If not, if you'd like you can PM me and I know a guy who will treat you right if you tell him I sent you

there need no "sign of good will" bc i never took anything to hart, you just have your way or thinking and i have mine, thats it in a nut shell lol
thanks and i will take you up on that offer when the time comes, plus i want to wait on the stall to see how jakes stalls do out in the open and what they come to the table with, if its anything like the trannys then ill just get one of there stalls so everything is by one builder and if something goes wrong i dont have to deal with 100 diff people

Not a problem, the sign of goodwill was on my part for being a dick. I know Jake will be putting out a quality converter, as I know him and all of the people who work there very well, and I know Jake's absolute refusal to cut corners or deliver an inferior product at all costs. Some people here may think a company can only specialize in either converters or transmissions, never both, but I've seen the equipment they're planning to use, and it's pretty high end and Jake has been involved with converters just as long as transmissions, so I know the end product will be nothing short of excellent

maybe they do a deal where if you buy the trans you get a free stall LOL
Well the kits alone for converters can be pretty costly, and the profit margin in a lot of converters can be fairly slim, so I don't know if he'll do a free one, but he may do a very special introductory pricing with them, especially with people who buy a transmission as well. A lot of strictly converter shops make their money with the volume of work they put out, and with the much shorter amount of time it takes to build a converter vs building a transmission, the profit margin comes out to about even. I think I typed that out kind of weird, but I hope it still makes sense.

maybe they do something like you said, like if you buy the trans and stall at the sametime he will do a special pricing the first go around, guess we see what they come up with
We have a package deal for fbody swaps, including converter. When you are ready ask for Mike and I will take care of you as I do with everyone that calls. I am pretty sure we can do something about the PC for you...lol
Don't mind elite, he is a bit high strung and is quick on the draw but we taught him very well so when it comes to the trans side he knows his ****.
Anyway's the PC is sopmething we always offered, Jake was just looking at a way to help speed up the process, there is not much mark up in the pc itself, the sandblasting and pc is done in the same place.
It take's me about 2 hours to clean, blast, clean again and paint, then sand the edges of the case. In that time I could be stacking 3-4 transmissions, or phone calls or emails..etc, So if we send 5-10 cases out and they come back prepped and ready then we can rock and roll these things to the dyno and then out the door.
The purpose is that we are always behind, and we are trying to move faster. We are a small company with large shoes.
We appreciate the support and understanding from everyone. Pc may not be for everyone and that we understand.
Looking forward to helping you achieve your racing goals.

Call the shop or pm me for specifics, but they are custom built billet cover converters for your combo. As far as timeline for our inhouse deal, hard to say but in the next couple months hopefully. Still getting stuffed squared away.
Just chiming in,We build 10-15 high end glides a week and 90 Percent of them are coated. We also have them custom painted as well as all chrome accesories for them.It makes a much nicer unit. while many of these go in dragsters we also do this on monster trucks and mud racers as well. They will not show any difference in temperature. We have played with several different coatings to combat temperature with no avail. As far as the price difference,I promise you that you will like it. Jake is trying to turn out the best product he can and this is why he offers this service. We even hydro dip units in carbon fiber and camoflauge so,It is whatever floats your boat!! It doesnt hurt and it looks great!!

I think it is human nature that anyone installing a nice-looking trans (or any part) will take more care than with something that looks beat-up. That extra care might even reduce warranty claims that really are due to indifference and carelessness.
As a society we value form and appearance more and more; and of course are raising the price of things in the process. Apple products are the best example. Certainly all car companies are doing it too. I know I've had to buy a "package" to get an option I want and end up paying (in money and weight) for a bunch of things I don't want.

Not necessarily...
We picked up cases today from the blaster that we we're going to have coated but we couldn't wait on them. I have more cases to drop off tomorrow for blasting and we can have them done.
I know we have a customer who requested a red finish, that one is getting powdercoated, just because...
