Transmission Swap Question
The current transmission in my Camaro (in sig) is starting to go. I have a 99 Suburban with it's transmission that is good. Could i swap the one from the suburban to my camaro? I imagine ill have to buy a new tail shaft is there anything else i would need to do this swap?

I hadn't replied because I wasn't sure of all the details, but let me take a shot at this...
If the Suburban was a 2wd, the trans should be usable; if it was 4wd, it will need to be rebuilt to use a different output shaft.
Assuming it is 2WD, the tailshaft may not need changing. (I assume the Suburban mounted with a crossmember; not sure what your car uses.)
From what I understand, truck transmissions had a different shifter shaft and Neutral Swith (?) than the car versions, but these can easily be swapped after finding the right parts.
Someone correct me, but I think that is all there is.
Since the Suburban trans was built to shift "softer", you may want to install a Transgo HD2 shift kit and a Corvette Servo; this will both give firmer shifts and prolong the life of the trans by increasing line pressure.
BTW - The Shifter Shaft issue is being addressed now in this thread:

appreciate the info. Im glad you mentioned if it was a 2wd which it is. I forgot to add that part in. The other question i had is; will the camaro transmission harness hook up to the suburban's transmission?

Yes, all 4l60E from '96 through '06 are connector and computer compatible.
(It might even be earlier than '96, but '95 was an odd year and by '08 the valve body no longer had one of the solenoids. I am more familiar with later years.)
