Default What stall

Im working in a 2000 s10 ext extreme . Doing a 5.3 swap with a 76mm turbo setup . Im keeping the bottom end stock and most likely doing ls9 head gaskets and head studs . Future plans are for a small cam like the ls9 but nothing radical. cam depends on funds after getting everything else needed to get the truck running

My question is what for stall speed would you guys recommend . Its a daily driver truck with a few track trips here and there. I was thinking in the 3000 to 3500 range would be decent at the track and still have good manners on the street

thanks for any insight

2800-3200 may be a better range for your app. Higher isn't always better.

Well you need to figure out where your turbo is building boost. It needs to be high enough stall to enable the turbo to spool. As the turbo spools, it will build boost and more power. This added power will increase the stall speed and continue the spooling process. It is not uncommon for a turbo to pull the stall speed of the converter up an additional 500 rpm. If the converter is sized properly with a turbo application, you will get the best of both worlds; a low stall speed for good drivability in off-boost conditions as well as a higher stall under boosted conditions that will give you great performance.

thanks for the replies .Thats a lot to think about pancho. Kind of like what came first the chicken or the egg in my case lol. I'm still in the build process and collecting parts. From what I've read on similar builds I should have a few pounds of boost by 2500 and full boost by 3500 . I know if I get a good converter, I can get a free reflash but where to start is the big question . Maybe start with a 3000 and go from there. There is a 3600 used in the classifieds but like u said bigger isn't always better
