Default What year 4L80E?......

...can I use for my 2004 LQ4? I just got '04 LQ4 out of a Denali and I'm trying to find a 4l80e for it. I've seen lots from the mid 90's on up but don't know what year(s) I can use with my '04 LQ4....can I use an older one? I'm very new to the LS series and the trannys that go behind them.TIA

The older ones dont have the top bell housing bolt like the newer ones do. There are a few other differences, most of which dont really matter but the big difference that I know of that I am unsure if it matters is the EPC solenoid is different. If I remember correctly it changed in 2003 but I have never tried to swap between the two different styles and dont know what is involved if anything.

There are a few guys on here that know the 4L80s inside and out and perhaps one of them will chime in..

I'd shoot for a 96 or lower, they tend to be cheaper and have a strong OD roller clutch.
