Default Time for stall

Well it's time for the mods to begin. The first I want to do is convetter and build the car around that. I know I want a 4000-4400 but unsure of what is the best. I was thinking a yank pt4200 as the car will be N/A setup. But I have seen that some of them are not working well and I don't want to pay 800+ for something that is not working right. The only other one I would think about is TCI but it seems that the ones I have seen are not cutting the 60's of the pt. At what rpm are the STR's on these stalls measured, stall speed I would hope and what about effincey? What else should I look for in picking the right stall?

BTW I know I need a cooler and gear would help but I will wait on the gear till I pick a cam to see what I need.

TCI 3500 is a great starting point 2.5 stator. I have the TCI 3800 stall with a 2.6 stator great converter. Then the money goes up , yank has there ss line and there PT line, what are you looking to do with the car , street strip or track. More info would help , Mods and goal would help to.

if your gonna go with a head/cam car the 4200-4600 range is where you should definitly look at...im not sure what tci offers that high up but im sure they could hook you up...yank makes good stuff and even some people swear by vig so the choice is yours. Boomcase has it right in that the 3500 is a good starting point but if you already know what you want and it happens to be a head cam car do it right and go big on the vert...my pkg makes peak tq at 5000rpms and actually makes less power than stock up to around 3800 so basically im looking to upgrade now just to get in my powerband.

It is a street/strip car and I am not sure about my goals yet but I am sure 11's are faster at some point. I have driven many stalled car before so I know how they drive. I know I will be getting the 4000-4400 range because the car will be N/A. I am just not sure how well the tci's are doing at the track. The ones I have seen at the track here are not cutting the 60's of the yanks. I was wanting to see if anyone is see good numbers from their tci's and how many people are unhappy with thier yanks. Also does anyone have the dyno graphs showing there locked vs. unlocked numbers. I don't want a vig because the mph's are down on those car.

Thanks for the help guys.

Vig 3 Disc 4200

I swear by Vigi's....other's don't....I would say the Vigi then TCI are the two that I would put in my car....I honestly do not like Yanks, I had one and tossed it for my Vig.

Take you're pick....honestly if you could find someone or a couple of people really in ur area that have stalls close to what you want that would take you for a ride or let you take their cars (w/them in it of course...hehe) around their block to get a feel that's one of the best ways to choose the stall you like best.

All of them will 60' w/in .05 of each other if ur car is set up correctly...so you really need to see how they drive every day.
