Default flexplate, starter issues.

Just swapped 2001 4L60E with 1997 v6 4l60e. I used a spacer. Now starter doesnt make contact with flexplate. I have a curved flexplate

did they come from the same engine? 3.4, 3.8, 5.7 etc? I'm not sure if the flexplates are the same from engine to engine. Flexplates may be 168 or 153 tooth. I'm trying to verify the same info.
