Default trans?

I want to but Turbo 400 transfer in 2000 z28 ls1motor what kind of 400 do I need and does my stock drive shaft work or does it have to modified to fit any feed back helps

Since no one has answered yet, let me ask - do you have a 4L60E in there now?
Why do you want to switch to a TH400? Are you making more than 550HP?

Question

I got the car as a roller and got an ls1 for it. I plan on 425 HP to rear wheels no transmission yet but doing a buget build and it seems the 400 built is cheaper

A 400 is cheaper and stronger, but you have to consider a crossmember,a shifter and you will have to get a driveshaft built,and you have to figure in the rear gear for either one of them. It really depends on what your going to do with the car. I think the price kind of equals out. If your going to drive it much and your not going over 500rwhp I would do the 4l60, if your mainly going to race it go with the 400.
