2000 WS6 Automatic Making Noises. Need Help

Seriously, any noticeable whining noise is not good; it could be a worn bushing or one of the torrington bearings. I might be able to isolate it better if you details in which gears it make the noise.
You say "just before the shift", but I suspect that just means it becomes noticeable at a certain RPM.
IMHO, it is time to start saving up for a trans rebuild. I suspect the noise will get louder over time. You do want to catch it before a catastrophic failure as you then need also need to send the converter out for an opening and cleaning, and replace the trans cooler; otherwise metal particles can ruin the rebuilt trans too.

If the noise only occurs for a fraction of a second before the shift, it could be related to the shift solenoids or something else in the valve body. I don't know if any of these valve body parts even makes noise. Perhaps one of trans builders knows that...

Fixing the pump is a moderate repair that requires removing and opening the trans. It can open a can of worms as other worn parts like teflon rings could break. With a 13 year old trans, just about any shop would insist on a full rebuild to make sure it all works and that the labor to remove/install the trans is not lost.
Hopefully the problem is just a sticky shift solenoid or minor problem in the valve body as these don't require removing the trans.
