Default 4l60e blowing dipstick out of tube and fluid on engine.

1994 Formula LT1 4L60E 135,000 miles.. Stock.. Keeps blowing the dipstick out of the dipstick filler tube and blowing tranny fluid all over my passenger valve cover.. Why would it do this? How can I fix it? Thanks.. Joe

This is very similar to this recent (and unresolved) thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...ping-some.html

None of the trans or converter experts chimed in on that, so until/unless I get corrected, my hunch is that the converter is overheating. The trans does report its temperature to the PCM, which a good scanner could read.

I pinched my vent tube on the trans when I replaced my torque arm. Did the same thing.

I mentioned in the other thread that the vent tube would have to be clogged/pinched too, but didn't know that just pinching it would cause this problem. Thank you for the correction.

well with the vent tube pinched it shouldn't REALLY matter unless you have other issues. The vent tube is really just for runoff fluid if the transmission gets too hot and the fluid expands too much. It relieves some of the pressure so as to not hurt internals. I would say you have a line issue or bad cooler creating too much pressure. The dipstick goes right into the pan so that means that where there is usually little residual pressure there is now enough to blow the top. Check lines and temps first and we'll go from there.
