Been Looking around and cant find my answers.
1. What torque converter 99+ or 98- ?
2. keep stock flexplate?
3. can the 2006 pcm (dbc van motor) control the 97 4l60e?
4. Spacer?
Eventually Ill swap to an 80e when I go turbo, but I DD this pig and the v6 has like a million miles and its effed up. Cost more to fix than to swap.
Help please.

A '97 4l60E has a 298mm input shaft, it will take a "LT1" (not LS1) converter. Typically a spacer is needed and the stock flexplate can be drilled (existing holes extended?) for the LT1 converter. However, (as I understand it) this depends upon whether your LS engine has a long or short crank extension.

I am very confident that a 2005 PCM can run a '97 4L60E. By 2008 the 4L60E no longer had a 3-2 downshift valve; therefore a 2008 PCM/TCM would not work. I don't know exactly in what years and cars this change was made, but believe it was closer to 2008 than 2006. From all the doco I have seen, '96 through '06 trans are electrically identical. Therefore I think your 2006 PCM will be OK, but hard to be certain.
