Just finished putting in a built level 2 4l60e and was surprised on how short the hoses were that came with the B&M Tranny Cooler? I have a SLP ram air kit, so it covers alot of the radiator already. So, I decided dope style would be best in my situation. However, after trying to find best possible route for the rubber hoses, I decided to mount it behind the air dam about 5 inches (dope Style). Has anyone ran this cooler in this location? After installing, I began to wonder if it would get enough cool air being so close behind the air dam? I figured here it would be less likely to to get hit with a rock or other road debris. Being behind the air dam seems to me to be a good location. Any ideas or thoughts? Would you move it? I will post pics when I have more time.

Here is a pic of where I ended up mounting the cooler. I purchased a aeroforce gauge and I am currently waiting on it to be delivered. Then I will be able to get a transmission temp reading. So far, I can say it has been a blast with the new Circle D 3300 stall. Like everyone said, should of went with a 3600. Heads and cam package will be next. Along with some suspension and rear end upgrades!
You aren't getting any air there. Usually when people mont a cooler dope style it's before the air dam not after. I suggest you do the same because your temps can be through the roof right now and you don't even know.
Do you have the cooler hooked up to the stock cooler or by itself?

No, I bypassed stock cooler. I should be able to get reading on transmission tomorrow. I will have the aeroforce interceptor hooked up. I need to buy new hose and try and get the cooler moved to the front of the air dam as well.

Just finished installing the Aeroforce gauge. First off, let me say how when I first opened the box, I laughed. I got this through Maryland Speed for $219.00 which is a great deal and I am more than impressed by what it can do. I had this same feeling when I bought a diamond ring. I know its worth it and will bring me happiness, but Damn, lot of money for something so small! Came in a huge box too. Anyway, I chuckled. The things we do for these cars! Funny thing is, I installed it in a single gauge pod and it seems like I need to put my head to the side to look around the thing.(Not really).
Moving on to getting my first trans temp reading. While I was first setting it up, without downloading the intructions first like it says to do, I had the car idling for about 15 mins or so. Trans temp was at 187. I realized I was going to need to print out some intructions. Needed to figure out how to set scan time and warning lights. Also needed to know what DM meant. Which means Duramax, FYI. So, I went inside to print them and what do you know, no ******* ink in the printer. I decided to eat dinner and then went over to my sisters house. Which is exactly 1.9 miles. Temp when I started car was 162 and it jumped up to 185 when I pulled in her driveway. When I came back the temp read 157 when I left her house and about 177 when I pulled into garage at my place. This is with normal stop and go. I did not flash the stall to 3200 one time. I do believe that the cooler must be moved and soon. After I get off work tomorrow, the temp outside should be around 90. I will try and get a video of the temp with my phone on the way home. I am hoping it will not go over 200, but I am guessing there is doubt it will. Thinking about maybe getting second cooler.

dont get a second cooler, just move that one to the front of the air dam. I had a feeling that your temps would be fairly high without driving much due to the placement of the cooler. Im sure if you get on the car and do a few WOT runs, your temps will see 200.
im also running an aeroforce gauge and its a great tool.

Moved cooler to front of the air dam. I barely had enough length in one of the lines to mount it where I did. I did this kinda of in a hurry so, I crudely cut up the plastic air dam. You can see in the pic how I mounted it. I was not able to put it at same angle as the radiator because the ram air unit I have comes down almost all the way to the bottom. Dope style was not an option. I was able to lean it back toward the nose of the car. Not really sure how that will effect the radiators cooling ability? I can tell you that, when your under the car and its been running, the difference in air temp from where I had it is probably about 20 degrees. So, yes moving it has changed the temp for sure.
