Torque Converter Install On A C5

Torque Converter Install On A C5 Tried searching without much luck. Does anyone know if it's possible to change the toque converter in a C5 by just removing the torque tube and leaving everything else in place or does the transmission have to be lowered like it's coming out?
It's rather involved.

That's what I was afraid of. Had tried looking things up in Alldata and GM SI, and both showed the trans being removed. Was hoping it would be as simple as just supporting the engine and removing the torque tube/rear bellhousing to access the converter since that's all that we are replacing.
