Have you seen a 4l80e with the "Ears" cut from the factory?

Default Have you seen a 4l80e with the "Ears" cut from the factory?
I bought a 4l80e from a junkyard a few months ago for a swap. According to them it is from a 2001 GMC Sierra w/ 140K, and the ears look like someone cut them off. My question is, has anyone seen this from the factory before?

I can say we occasionally do get cores that were cut and from appearance it was done long ago possible OEM I have certainly seen it on the 4l60e and 700r4 units.

We have never seen the 4L80E transmission with the ears cut from the factory

Mine came out of a 2002 with 130k and the ears were cut off.
