Default 4th gens with Th400 come in

Got a 01' 4th gen has a t56 currently running 4:10s about to switch to a th400
Question is would the 4:10s be too much gear with the th400? Current tire is a 28"

Or what gears and tires combo are u running with your th400 thx

What do you want to do with the car? 4.10s are a lil much for the highway, but not bad around town and work well at the track. Need more info

Keep the 4.10's then, it wouldn't be worth the time/money to change it to a 3.73. Your highway cruise will be a little high rev, but other than that 4.10's sound good for you.

IIRC, I was spinning around 3200rpm (4:10, 28.5") with a 10" 3500rpm ATI converter.

Stay off highway and its a great street gear. Go on highway and do what I did, swap entire rear end (in 30 minutes).

FWIW: The trans runs about 30 degrees cooler with 4:10 compared to 3:08 rear.

I'd stay with 4.10s I run around 35-3800/70mph with a 5000 stall. I usually trailer it though, so it's never been an issue for me.

You will love the 4.10's in the TH400, especially if you are going to be using a stall of 3500+. I have TH400 + FTI 3600 + 3.50 gear in mine, hopefully I will be switching to 4.30's pretty soon to really wake up my combo.

PM me if you have any questions on the swap, I definitely just went through all of the trouble. lol But it was worth it.
