Default A4 won't do 2-3 shift on WOT

My 99 formula's A4 developed a strange behavior. It will not do a 2-3 shift on WOT. It works fine at ~85% throttle, but then it also shifts early(<5500rpm), so it's less than optimal. I put a trans cooler on, but it didn't change the behavior at all.
Any suggestions?

Needs to be edited to shift sooner or at lower RPM

Sounds like the 3-4 clutch pack went bye - bye... It just happened to me as well. Smell your fluid...

If it's a fairly stock car, ie no torque convertor, stock gears, etc...I'd say something is about to go..or is gone in the tranny. Don't worry..I've been there twice already with blown trannies. Check the fluid...my fluid looks ok, but smells nice and burnt. For me it just confirms what I already knew, this tranny is on it's way out. But it's been on it's way out since the fall...since I need to drive the car everyday I try not to beat on her too hard..and the tranny has managed to last. (Yes I hate not being able to race...but that will be fixed soon). Get a good built tranny with a deep pan, and you won't have to worry as much. You said you already put on a tranny cooler so you're good there.

nope nothin because the actual clutches are burnt or in my case actually cracked in half. If you dont want to spend a lot just get the clutch packs and install them yourself it isnt actually that hard to install.
