That's pretty much been the direction I'm leaning. The floor of my cab is removable and will expose the top of the trans. It's also a tilt bed so once it's up on jacks, easy access under the cab . It will be a breeze to pull whenever I need to.

Hows the project going? I last saw the body getting prepped?
My $300 total rebuild is still going 2 back to back 1200 mile trips still purring

Its on hold. Switched gears to my C5 Vette. Doing heads, cam, headers... be back on the truck after that. I work for UPS so this time of year is busy.
