Default 4l60E questions

Anyone use billet 2nd and 4th servo with the had-2 kit installed? Wondering how it will act. I have the tci 2nd and 4th billet servos. I can tune the trans since I control it by Holley EFI My fear is the 1-2 will be too harsh. I have the hd-2 with corvette 2nd now and have a firm fast shift. I also thought about changing the 1-2 piston to the pinless instead of how the hd-2 kit has it. Looking to firm up 2-3 and 3-4. Opinions?

I have not yet tried the Sonnax 2nd and 4th servos with the HD2 shift kit. Should know in a few months.
For the 1-2 accumulator, the HD2 kit uses two short springs - one on each side of the piston. This will not work with a pinless piston as the piston will bottom out before the spring would. I just use an aluminum piston in this position and pinless for the forward and 3-4 accumulators.
With two washers installed I find the HD2's 1-2 shift it bit harsh with a 2400 stall converter, but perfect with a 3600 stall converter.
The 2-3 shift can be firmed up by drilling the separator plate 3rd feed hole to .101 (or even .120) and building the 3-4 clutch with a tight clearance. However it will never be anywhere near as firm as the 1-2. The 3-4 will feel even softer - the physics of the gear ratios makes the later shifts feel softer anyway,; and a higher stall softens them too. They can still be very fast; you just won't feel it.

Do you already have the Transgo HD2 kit installed?

Yes already have the hd-2 kit and fresh raybestos blue frictions. Beast sun shell and 2500 converter. Controlled by Holley dominator EFI so I can tune it how I want. I hear bad things about the way that kit uses the 1-2 piston is why I was considering putting the pinless back in. I have the tci 2nd and 4th billet servos that I haven't installed. Right now I have corvette 2 and stock truck 4th. Great 1-2 shift but soft on 2-3 and 3-4. Fast but soft unless I crank line pressure way up. Actually max at 50% tps on 3 and 4 only

If you have the 12" torque converter 2,500 rpm stall, when you install the 2nd apply servo from TCI, then I would make the 2nd feed hole in the separator plate at .086". 3rd feed hole apply .125". Use the TransGo over & under accumulator spring setup, with "no spacers". In the valve body TransGo has you install a "white" spring on the accumulator valve. DO NOT install any spring here, when using the TCI billet servo. If the 2,500 rpm stall is the 9.5" torque converter, then the feed hole can be .093" - .096". Again "no spring" on the accumulator valve in the valve body. The "pinless" accumulator pistons for forward and 4th is fine here. The 4th feed hole in the separator plate can be opened to .120" with the 12" TC and .135" for the 9.5" TC. Set the band clearance at the minimum as per TransGo's instructions. What "bad things" have you heard about the TransGo setup here?
