Default 4th gen 4l60e, will it work in a 2002 1500 4x4?

Just a quick question guys. I have a 4l60e from a 4th gen and A buddy's trans in his 4x4 truck just took a dump. Will it work or not?

if u mean its from a 4th gen fbody it should hook up to a 5.3 or 4.8 with minimal changes but if u mean a 4th gen style 4l60 from something 03 and newer the computer may be different

This will not work unless you change the tailshafts which will require complete teardown of both units.

What mantycarguy means is that you have to change the output shaft which requires an extensive disassembly.

So, the output shaft is too long or too short?.

I'm aware of having to remove the tailshaft housing to bolt on the transfer case but didnt know about the output shaft length issue.

The 4WD transfer case requires a very short trans output shaft; the 2WD has a much longer output shaft. And, no, you cannot just cut it down because it would be missing the splines.
