Typically $90-$100 at a local shop for shortening and balance.

Can't lengthen, can only shorten, so you'll need a whole new ds, just take it and tell em you need a retube, they'll use the ends you have now so it won't cost that much

Well the guy at the shop said he can length it for me but he'll have to put like a sleeve over it.. Something like that.

Might be easier to get a longer slip yoke right? They come in a few different sizes...

Its not that expensive to get done right; a longer tube might cost an additional $70.
Remember that a DS failure at the front end can not only destroy your car, but cause a serious accident and personal injury. Drive Shaft loops are a great safety feature.

We'll I just got done installing my LONGER driveshaft because mine was too short from my Dana 60 swap/t56 which was made when I got the s60. I had about an 1 1/4 of the polished part of the slip yoke sticking out past the seal. Drove it 400 miles and it walked the tail shaft bushing out of the tail shaft! Luckily I took it home right after that and found the cause of the vibration lol. Nonetheless I had the same situation as you. Now I'm 620 bucks poorer (b/a Denny's nitrous ready 3.5" )and now I have an extra chromoly 3" driveshaft in the for sale section. Anyone need one?

Thanks for the reply's guys. I'll be sending the drive shaft out tomorrow to get lengthen an extra 1 1/2" so that'll give it an 1" from bottom out to tightening down the u bolts.. Should I be good with that?

I know this is an old thread but was this ever resolved? I just did a 4l80e swap trying to use the stock drive shaft but its almost 2 inches to short. Did you just end up getting it extended?

4th Gen F-bodies have a extended length slip yoke with a vibration dampener, They are longer than normal replacement yokes. 300mm 4L60e's are damn near the same length as a 4L80E. Having a longer driveshaft built would probably be best.
