Default Ls1 Rx7

I have a 3rd Gen RX7 with a 99 LS1 with the auto tranny.... Everyone has been telling me to go with a stall, and a torque converter.... But my biggest question is is the stall going to make my car more difficult to be daily driven? Reason i am considering a stall is because alot of the cams i am looking at recomend a 2800 stall.....

my converter stalls at around 36-3800 (even tho vig calls it a 3200)....and i dont mind driving mine around all the time....i would suggest a 3000-3200 stall...from what i've heard 2800 is not really worth it, although you do have a lighter car.

its not gonna make it anymore difficult to drive, the car will just feel a little bit "loose" during low rpm acceleration. when you step on the gas from a stop the car will rev a little higher to get moving. it kinda feels like slipping a clutch. its annoying and weird for about the first hour you drive it and then you start not to even notice it.

BTW: you got any pictures of that thing???3rd gen RX-7s are just about the coolest thing to put an LS1 in IMO.

With a stall your car will drive a little different but a BETTER different. I dont think you should waste your money with anything under a 3500. I would get a 3500 or 3800TCI if I were you.

KBoogie,
I have a FD LS1 with a 200-4r trans and EVERYONE I talked to recommended a 3800 stall. I ended up getting a SS3800E because I am spraying the motor so I needed a nitrous converter. Keep in mind if you are going to drag race the car with the 4.10's you need a fairly efficient converter so you dont run out of gear in the quarter especially if you are going to spray.

Our stalls dont have to be quite as high as some of the Fbodies to get similar results because we are MUCH lighter. I think a 3800 stall is just about perfect because it gets you in your powerband but not at the peak of torque where you are gonna blow the tires off every time you hit the gas.

Mike

my car was orginally an auto... so i have 3.90 gears......
Future mods....
-headers or ported manifolds...
-ported throtle body
-cams
-and the tranny work

I want my car to be daily driven, yet still able to lay it down on it thing that pulls up next to me.

Thanks for the input mike. E-mail me some pics of your car if you get a chance.
