Stop trying to lock your stall on the dyno. If it wasn't staying locked it was probably slipping and throwing clutch material through your trans. You'll be up for a rebuild soon because of it. Hope it was worth it

ONLY triple-disk converters should ever be locked at WOT because the lockup clutch on standard converters cannot reliably hold full power. In the stock tune or any good "mailorder" tune the converter is unlocked at 50% throttle (or even much lower) to protect it.
If you didn't pay $1000+, you don't have a triple disk converter.

I'm confused, in the first post you say it locks up fine while driving. Under what condition won't it lock up?
With a proper tune, it will not lock up with more that 50% throttle.

yes, locking the converter will show more power on the dyno but it is bad for the converter

dynos are tools for tuning, the numbers can be manipulated and don't really mean much

I suspect in the old days of barely-300HP engines that a locked converter could handle that power and show a slightly better number on the dyno. But with 500HP+ now being common, a single-disk converter cannot reliably handle that much and dyno operators have not learned that yet.
