80e tail housing o-ring?
when i slide the yoke all the way to the dust boot (1/4" before it hits) i can feel the yoke engage a oring inside the tail housing. the oring is not on the shaft but part of the tail housing.
the yoke is about 3.5"s on the machined part, do i need a longer yoke?
how far out do i need to hold the yoke for a irs car?

I slide the yoke all the way on, then pull it out aprx 3/4", meas. center to center to the rear ujoint with the rear loaded-you can load/unload the rear, see the diff in length rear to trans
th o ring on my trany is not on the output shaft.it seems like it is a part of the tailhousing, as it slides over the out side of the yoke.
i need to now if in need to get a longer output yoke to engage that o ring or will i be ok leaving it alittle short of that o ring

so only some 80s have this o ring as part of the tailhousing. and it basicly does the same thing as above. keeps oil out of the splines and no you dont need to engage it
