I have a 1994 Chevy 4x4 with the 5.7 v8 and 4l60 trans that is failing. I bought a 1997 4L60e but have been told they won't interchange. I was told it will bolt in, but the internal electronics are different. I was told that I HAVE to have a 4l60 from a 93-94 ONLY. Does anybody know???? Please help!!!!

Yes, 93/94 and 95 are each electrically different from '96-'05.
'94 - Non-PWM for the TCC, but with PWM 3-2 downshift solenoid.
'95 - PWM for the TCC and PWM 3-2 downshift solenoid
'96+ - PWM for the TCC and non-PWM for the 3-2 downshift solenoid
There might be mods that can be made to the valve body and tune-change to the PCM to make it work, but I don't know if true or what they are.
Unfortunately '94 is the most odd-ball year.
