Is there any way around it, since I don't have a dial indicator or the gm tool. ? By everything i have read if i grind. 050 off that should be enough?
I am not an expert on transmissions but do no my way around some stuff

I found the Sonnax servo pin quite long and ground off a bit more than .065 to even get .065 end play with a new band.
Indeed the servo pin was so long I couldn't get the servo cover snap ring on.
I therefore test-assembled (without seals) the two Sonnax servos with the OEM pin which gave me about .075 end play. I then disassembled it all and ground the Sonnax servo pin to about the same length of the OEM pin. I could then test-asssemble with the Sonnax pin for the final measurements.
Good luck.
