Well this isn't a full detailed write up but this should give you a pretty damn good idea of what you're getting into as far as parts and cost goes. I wrote this up awhile ago, and there's always tweaks that can be made so let me know if you have any other questions.

fairly easy swap. The hardest part is budget lol i spent over $3k to do the swap but that included $2000 for trans core and rebuild. Then the converter was $850 and needed a new crossmember, slip yoke, u-joint, and i went with a PCM4Less harness. The worst part of the whole thing for me was cutting the tunnel brace that is in the way of the plug. It's tough steel but with a air compressor and grinder it still wasn't bad.

Instead of cutting the tunnel I usually recommend people try to get at it with an air hammer if possible, but there is more than one way to skin a cat

i tried an air hammer. I still had to cut. It was a tight fit on mine still after cutting and using an air hammer

Hmm interesting, I've never had a problem, but it wouldn't surprise me with these cars. Did you only have to clearance the area of the floor pan on the driver's side where the harness connector protrudes?

Okay that's what I thought, that's pretty much how it should be. Weird that just air hammering it wasn't enough. Well at least you got it though!

Yup its easy, my swap was relatively cheap.

Craigslist 4L80 $150
Transgo HD2 kit $120
Fti converter $750
BMR Crossmember $225
Connectors off ebay $50
Fluid/pan gasket and filter $80
Sonnax short shifter shaft $30

The stock driveshaft works if you get the correct yoke, stock flexplate works if you get the right converter. I made my own wiring just bought the connectors off ebay. I used the stock 4l80 dipstick that came with mine, just had to persuade it with a few bends. I had to cut a hole for the connector.....noooo way an air hammer or any hammer for that matter was going to clearance that enough. The stock 4L60 linkage works but you will have to modify the bracket to get the cable adjusted properly. I also spent about $250 on a good derale cooler with a fan and $80 on stainless braided lines but that's not "needed".

We can definitely get you setup with the crossmember you will need to get the 4L80E mounted in the car. We offer a regular crossmember and a torque arm relocation crossmember for a 4L80E swap depending on what kind of torque arm you are going to run.

BMR 4L80E conversion crossmember (TCC020)

BMR 4L80E torque arm relocation crossmember (TCC021)

Kyle is a great guy to deal with and i recommend a BMR crossmember as well I got the one with the torque arm mount(pic #2).

P.S. Kyle did i ever tell you that driveshaft safety loop i bought from your buddy saved my *** already lol i had a junk u-joint and it broke, locked my slip yoke and shaft together and snapped the shaft off right at the loop. The only thing it didn't save was some light damage to my Y pipe and tunnel from the slip and 6" chunk of driveshaft that was flopping around... Other than that the loop did exactly what it was meant to and i couldn't be happier

Thanks for the good words!

Well it was a good thing you got that driveshaft loop from when you did.

If you don't have one and you break a driveshaft it can destroy the underneath of the car which is a real nightmare. A lot of guys don't realize they need a driveshaft loop before it is too late.
