SS4000 good bolt on converter?
With the way this converter feels I would not even think twice with going with the highest SS line of converters, I think its a 4400 but not sure.....its that tight
I have 3.23s with the SS4000 in a full weight car and I really like it. However, this is *my* limit of what I want in a TRUE everyday driven car (and that's what this car is to me.) This is an opinionated thing what is daily drivable and what is not. I've had much tighter converters and I've had much looser converters than this. I've found what I feel is the sweet spot with this converter as far as it being a really good track converter while still being nice enough on the street for everyday driving.
If you plan to keep the 2.73s, you might consider the SS3800 instead for good streetability. If you have plans for 3.73s later on, for example, then you might go with the 4200. For 3.23s or 3.42s you might go with the 4000.
Right now I am planning on bringing it up to 1400 and mashing the gas....I'll be doing this on BFGs.....Each run i'll add 200rpms to the launch and see what the converter likes best....do you recommend this approach?
I launch the SS4000 at roughly 2900-2950. It might launch harder at a higher RPM. I don't know because above 3000 my computer forced a 2nd gear start for some reason. Weird.

I have added the SS4000 to my car , then at the track stalling anything over 2950 at the line i also start in 2nd gear .
I was told that the PCM freaks when detecting 3000 rpm or higher for more that 3 seconds with 0mph input. Kinda like a limp home failsafe .
Works just fine as long as you don't hold it for more than 2 seconds before letting it loose down the track.
Just my .2 cents worth.
