Stock drive shaft and 4l80e
Stock drive shaft and 4l80e How many of you are using the stock drive shaft with a 4l80e? Read on here it will work with a new yoke.
Got my new yoke installed yesterday and have just under 2" of yoke showing. Everything I've read says no more then 3/4" to an 1" max showing.
So do they make a different extended yoke that will move it farther forward. Right now I just picked up a standard th400 yoke cuz that's all I could get locally.
It's a spicer I'll get the part number.

Here is a pic of what I'm working with.
The larger mark towards the front of the car is where the seal on the tail shaft ends. Smaller mark roughly 3/4" further back is the back of the output shaft.
Before I wasn't thinking about the rear shaft sticking out that far past the rear seal.

Personally I would get the correct driveshaft made ($250 steel, $350 aluminum), but you might want to look at this similar thread started today:

The OP identified a slip yoke which is 1" longer than normal, which might fit your needs. Actually even the shorter ones have 5" of yoke.

Just to updated anyone else looking for this info.
I put it all together using this yoke and a conversion joint for the stock shaft. Ended up with about 1-1/8" of splines not engaged. Works fine so far up to 90mph. No vibrations or anything.

Verdad Gallardo I'll get the part number later but it's not the longer one. That wouldn't of helped the issue I was worry about. I already had plenty of engagement. I was worried about the unengaged section. After comparing the mine (under 1-1/4) to the stock slip yoke it had even more so I'm not worried about it.
