C5 filling question
I don't want to run it long with low fluid, but it has to be running or the fluid will flow out of the pan.
Thoughts?
Thanks
Car needs to be up in the air so you can get under it. With it running, and a pump or fluid transfer system of your choice, add fluid until it just begins to run out of the fill hole. Put the plug back in, get in the car and cycle the shifter through the gears. Keep your foot on the brakes. Maybe let the tires rotate while in drive, but stop them before going back to reverse.
Get the trans temp up to 100 deg or so, then top it off while idling in park.
Enjoy the ATF bath......

Over the years I've installed a dozen trans and NEVER had to ask the proper way to fill one.

Even Shane told me, "just pour/pump it into the fill hole. Between it and the TC, it should hold most of it" Well Im not sure how big their pan is, but mine will only hold about a quart before it starts running out. That's a lot of pumping to get 10-12, and THAT EXAUST IS HOT!!
