Stick with 4L80e or go with TH400
Should I stick with the 4l80e and put it in stock or go the different route with the tried and true TH400.
Car is a 370cui with a Borg Warner s480. Read end is a ford 9" with a 3.50 gear.
The 4L80E is tried and true. It's been proven many times in the 8s and we have customers running them in for years now in the 9s and 10s without even a freshen up.
Just about anyone can build a 10 second capable TH400 or 4L80. It's a different ballgame to build either that lives in the 8s or faster. There is a learning curve there that many supposed performance shops haven't experienced.
Street car=4L80e

Personally I greatly prefer an electronically controlled trans. I adjust the shift points, 200 rpm at a time, at the track to find the best performance for my frequent engine mods. Of course I have tuning software at the track and log every run.
