Default Install problem

So here's the situation. I took the converter out of my car when I did the m6 swap which is a Yank 3200SS that I had behind an LQ9 with the factory flywheel. I sold it to a buddy who is putting it in his Silverado 4x4. He blew the 5.3 and got ahold of an LQ9 also but when he went to bolt up the trans which is a 4l60 he said the bell housing wont bolt up to the motor all the way. But when he put on the stock converter it bolted up with no issues. So both motors had stock lq9 flywheel with a 4l60 the only difference being 2wd vs 4wd tranny. Is there anything different with the 2 trans that would cause this issue???

Thats what I've been telling them but they are insisting that there's something else. I'm assuming it's user error at this point.

Is the converter stabbed all the way? What is his measurement from bellhousing to converter pad where it would bolt to the flexplate? This measurement should be over an inch. If under an inch, it could cause problems perhaps like this.

I dont know I haven't been over there to check it out. Ill tell him to take some measurements and find out. I just know they are blaming the converter when there shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the input so far.

All LS-style 4L60E converters are interchangeable.
As Brian modestly "hinted", I would bet money that they did not fully seat your converter. If they torqued the bell housing bolts, they may have even broken the pump rotor inside the trans.
