tranny cooler worth it??????????????
My t/a has full Bolton's with stock tranny/stall. Doesn't see track often. Any benefit in installing aftermarket cooler? Car has 130k. If no oK if yes should I bypass stock cooler and what part # kit to install? Has any body logged bypass temps vs non?

Absolutely add a aftermarket cooler especially with a higher stall. The cooler you keep the tranny the longer it will last.
I have read thread after thread about inline with stock cooler or eliminate stock cooler with no real answers. My tranny builder said just run it inline with the stock cooler so that's what I did.
The bigger the better but I went with the b & m 70264

I have used a cooler both with and without the stock one and the temps were always at 190 and would pretty much stay there when paired with the cooler in the radiator. I have a good sized tube an fin cooler bypassing the stock unit and it does a much better job of cooling and keeping temps down. The highest I got my trans temp up to last year was 190 and I was beating the hell out of it.

Good info! Mjs1012. Do you recall your tranny temps before you added a cooler? What approx temp does a stock converter/factory cooler setup average? Of coarse it depends on how your driving ect.Approx temp drop from adding an aftermarket cooler? Thx

Like you said it depends how your driving, but I'd assume it's not uncommon for temps to be in the 180-210+ range without a cooler and stock converter. With most coolers you'll probably see a decent drop in temps. I saw about a 40 degree drop after I bypassed the stock cooler.

There just stacked on top of each other on front of the condensor, tube and fin on top and plate under it. Goes from trans to tube and fin, to plate, back to trans.
Mine in the summer runs at 125-150 degrees, stall does not lock up until 50 mph. 4000 stall, truck pan, HD2 kit. I have to really work to get it above 160. I have heard with 4l60e's the cooler the better.

I have it mounted on the radiator, but I might get a new cooler in the spring when I change my fluid.

A popular cooler alot of people use is a b&m 70264. It comes as a kit with pretty much everything you'll need

24,000 vs 20,000. Seeing I'm running stock stall the one your running should be more than enough cooling capacity right? If you think il benefit more with the b&m I'll go with that one

Is the b&m better then the one your running? Didn't see the gvw rating for b&m? Its more expensive but that doesn't nessararly mean anything? I'm leaning towards the one your running . What do I need that your kit didn't come with? I should space it off a/c cond. right?
