parts needed for a strong 4l65e??
The Sonnax drum is the best deal going but it won't solve all the 3-4 clutch failure issues.
It doesn't correct the small apply area. It allows more clutches, and helps with coning issues.

So, no guarantee of success, but here are the parts I would start with:
Stage 1
1. Basic 4l65E rebuild kit which has the 7 friction 3/4 clutch.
2. Transgo HD2 shift kit (skip the super stiff springs)
3. New separator plate - use the Trango Universal one
4. Sonnax input drum reinforcement ring; this requires an older style forward piston.
5. New 3rd accumulator check ball cartridge. (Many rebuilds skip this and then the 3/4 clutch fails prematurely)
6. New BorgWarner 29 element forward sprag
7. Sonnax HD 2-3 shift valve
8. Sonnax Smart Shell (The "Beast" is so 1990's)
9. Corvette Servo, if not already
10. Consider a new or remanufactured pump if it has significant wear
Stage 2:
1. Instead of the factory 7 friction 3/4 clutch, get a 7 or 8 friction 3/4 clutch using the BorgWarner Hi-Energy frictions. Skip the Z-pak, Alto-Red which no sponsor is using, at least not anymore. Personally I am using the Raybestors GPZ, but the BorgWarner Hi-Energy are the proven frictions used by many, if not all, the trans sponsors.
2. Wide Red or Carbon band. This requires a new or "perfect" Reverse drum.
3. Sonnax 2nd gear servo piston; with this you can optionally use a Kevlar band.
4. Sonnax wide bushing for the sun gear
Stage 3:
1. Sonnax Smart Tech input drum; this holds 8 or 9 frictions and includes the reinforcement ring.
2. Sonnax 4th gear servo piston.
3. 5-pinion planetaries. You likely new a new style reaction carrier shaft and bearing
4. More aggressive drilling of the separator plate for the 3rd feed.
After this you can go with e.g. billet input and output shafts, billet pump rotor, billet overrun piston, but the price will then sky rocket.
I'm probably missing something; I will update it if necessary.
A very important assembly step is to air test the input drum, first by itself and then inserted into the pump. Like a gourmet meal, many other assembly steps are critical too.
